We had a wonderfully relaxing Easter weekend in and around our home and city.
Friday saw Liam off to his cousin and Schatz, Jarod and I spent the day relaxing at home and indulging in the movie Last Vegas with chips and popcorn in the afternoon. I was rolling with laughter through the entire movie – it totally tickled my funny bones.
Saturday saw us head out to The Forum in Bryanston for the Kamers Vol Geskenke Pop-up Retail Event. I’ve been wanting to visit it for a few years now after being told about it by my ex collegue Sharon. I loved it! I so enjoyed the Mojito I had just after we’d arrived which made me totally relax. I was a little naughty and allowed Jarod to have two little sips of it since the boys love the non-alcoholic ones from KFC.
I was gifted the box pictures below and filled with vintage looking cleaning products in it. The lady at the stall told us that the box was made to look like it had a farm gate. Schatz picked up the chutneys from Paulis Food which we enjoyed with our divine roasted chicken for dinner last night. I saw such cutes items, from jewellery to stationery, crochet handbags to pottery, toe pornsocks and gorgeous t-shirts like the ones with the continent of Africa on them made by Krag Drag. I was very well behaved considering all the temptations around and only bought two little items. The next market down up here will be in Irene in December and no doubt, I’ll be heading out to it.
Sunday I was all set to get to work on editing and had just sat down at my desk when the wormie whirls hit. Thankfully I’ve learnt to manage a migraine and although I don’t go through the extreme pain anymore, thanks to strong painkillers and good timing, I always end with a dull thud in my head for a couple of days after the main event. I simply could not focus on anything so that was the end of the editing and the rest of Sunday I simply puttered around the house taking it easy.
Yesterday Schatz headed off early for a ride and when he was turning back to home called and offered to take us out for brunch. We headed to our new favourite breakfast haunt, Café Chicago in Alberton. As always, the food rocked and my son Jarod spoilt me with the most divine bunch of flowers. Don’t they just shout ‘happy’!
Jarod and I then headed off to Dischem to buy the family vitamins. One of the reason I love the vitamin shopping is that I get to trawl the isles and see the latest miracle cures and of course, the makeup counters always have me starry eyed and yesterday was no exception.
I picked up this nail polish called “You better think pink” by Catrice. I like that this polish dries really quickly as I am prone to messing up my paint job. I am of course curious to see how long it lasts though. My biggest wish when it comes to nail polish is that the option to buy a smaller bottle where available. I find I don’t use the same polish for months on end and it ends up sitting in the container along with the 50 others and goes to waste. I really think that there should be an option to buy 5ml. Maybe one day my wish will be realised.
I then looked at eye shadows as my favourite Revlon set is finished and needing replacing. I have other shades of brown but none are the exact colour I’ve decided I need. So I poked about and eventually decided on this set by Beauty Trends. It’s highly doubtful that I will ever wear the yellowish shade, but the others are all my idea of perfect.
While at Dischem for the vitamins, I picked up some Nativa Omega Complex as the advert I saw in the Essentials mentioned that it could possibly help with dry skin and ageing (I wish to look 35 again … lol) as well as hormonal support and maintaining digestive membranes. My hands turn into scales the moment the leaves start falling from the trees and this lasts through winter. No matter what I do, no matter what lotion or potion I use its a yearly event and my mother goes through it too, just a million times worse. So, I’m hoping that adding these to my daily vitamins and supplements may help. If you have a miracle cure or cream you believe is magic, please let me know.
That’s all for now friends … have a stunning day now.
