Then and now …
The photographer I worked with in the second photo had sent me the image on the left when we were discussing outfits for the shoot we had planned together. It’s the same top, different shoes and jeans though.
When I look at these images, almost two years on, there are subtle differences I see. I’ve settled into being me. I can’t begin to tell you just how much happier I am, despite heartbreak, challenges and changes. There’s something so incredibly intoxicating about being you, unapologetically. Accepting yourself, flaws ‘n all.
I have loved the road I’ve traveled. I’ve grown in ways I never imagined. I’m me. Finally. Unapologetically. And the view from here is beautiful, magical and intoxicating. The best part is that the road still stretches ahead of me, with bends and turns and lessons still to be learned, dreams to dream and changes ahead.
I posted the image above on my instagram and the very amazing and gorgeous Annette from The Lady of Style commented “Wendy, it is not the size, it is your confidence and happiness which makes the difference”. And you know what, she’s 100% right. Thank you Annette
I wish for every woman on the journey to 50, that she finds her strength, her power, her amazing beauty. I wish that they could see who they are on the inside, embrace it and let it shine in their world, let their true selves shine through. Make peace with their demons. Learn to love their flaws … and embrace their amazing uniqueness.
Make every day count. Take a chance. Try something. Fall in love with your wisdom, and your flaws. If you don’t love your life, make little changes each day until you have a life you love. Don’t you dare settle for anything less than the best. You deserve it!
