as 2014 starts to descend into our past. Wow, another year has just flown by.
This is also the time of year where people start considering that crazy practise of ‘New Year Resolutions’. I gave up on them a few years ago as they invariably turned into some kind of twisted reason to whip myself for failing. Hallelujah, I found Christine Kane and her ‘word of the year’ approach and I set goals through the year. I love it. I also prefer that as the year progresses and things twist and turn and change, as they invariably do, I make changes and adjust my goals.
I have not decided on a word for 2015 yet, but I’m learning towards ‘Dance’. I want to dance, with life, love, dreams, possibilities, goals, ideas, health and my friends. Dancing conjures up thoughts of happy times, laughter, fun, sweating for fun, giggling, smiling, shaking wildly and letting your wild side breath.
So as I sit here looking over the year that was, its been a good one. Different. Uncertain. Challenging. Exciting.
From travelling to Houston, TX for my daughters wedding, and starting the year off watching fireworks in downtown Houston, to actually being paid real money to take some photos of complete strangers, to enjoying Liams’ first Rugby season and year of high school and Jarods cooking classes. I’ve connected with my boys in the most incredible way and my relationship with each of them is just amazing. Reconnecting with my bestie of 30 years and getting to meet my BOB (best online buddy) after 12 years of a virtual friendship was just amazing.
I let go of the sistas monthly dinners as they were proving to be more of a stress factor instead of the chance to connect and support each other as their initial intention was. I blogged a lot and slowed down toward the end of the year. Not sure where its going at this point, I got a little bored, busy and distracted. A good time to reassess.
I got healthy. I’ve gotten fitter and more active. Park Walks on Saturdays mornings and gym most often three times a week. A weight loss of 8kgs has been liberating and helped me to find my Sassy self again. Some soul work, clearing out old cobwebs, new friendships and soul connections. I practised being more spontaneous. It doesn’t come easy, but I started to realise that I missed so many fun opportunities all because it hadn’t been planned.
I fell in love with Buddy and have become big pals with Marshy.
Now as the year draws to a close and I’m starting to peep over into the possibilities, dreams and challenges of 2015, its all the same in some ways, but all so different.
So as I post for the last time in 2014, for those who have been on the journey with me this year, watching, applauding, believing, encouraging, complimenting, loving, commenting and spurring me on, I want to say thank you. I hope you’ll pop by and see where my sails take me in 2015.
